Intervention Objective
Inspire creativity to identify and drive digital innovation and secure success of internal start-up ventures.
Why is this important?
To achieve breakthrough improvement by exploiting digital technology, innovative and disruptive approaches must be employed. These approaches are often at odds with more traditional IT ways of working and this can lead to initiatives being delayed or blocked. Dedicated governance and investment decision-making for digital innovation should be considered, and working methods need to motivate and inspire employee creativity. New business ventures ("internal start-ups") need to be properly supported and allowed freedom to operate at arm's length from corporate processes.
Some questions to be addressed
How are IT / digital innovations currently initiated and executed?
How can people be inspired to get creative, and how can an innovation culture be stimulated?
What is the current level of investment risk tolerance?
What scale of digital innovation is necessary to reach the North Star objectives?
How can great ideas be effectively realized?
Have New Business Model opportunities been identified that may require a venture approach?
What is needed to run an internal “start-up”?
Is a separate investment and governance model required to steer digital innovation (e.g. "Digital Lab")?
