Intervention Objective
Define the roadmap, approach, resources and investments that required to reach the North Star.
Why is this important?
The Digital Strategy sets out how the organization will navigate from its current position (baseline) to reach its desired future (North Star vision). There are typically many alternative routes and choices to be made, and there will be numerous expectations, dependencies and constraints to factor in. Defining an optimized roadmap ensures effective and efficient execution and provides clarity to stakeholders.
Some questions to be addressed
What is the vision for the digital transformation effort?
What does the current state look like?
What investments and other resources do we have at our disposal?
Are there pre-defined objectives (must-do's) that must be included in the scope?
Who are the key stakeholders and what are their assumptions and expectations?
What constraints and dependencies do we have?
How will we prioritize and plan the work?
How will we organize for success (teaming)?
What governance needs to be established?
Approach
The definition of the Digital Strategy requires:
Active and positive engagement with senior stakeholders across the business to ensure clarify and alignment of the strategic objectives, scope and approach.
A clear definition of the desired end-state that describes the future digitally enabled business (the vision) and a good understanding of the as-is situation.
Access to key decision makers who will determine the availability of resources and investments.
The intervention is executed in three phases:
