3. Baseline

Intervention Objective

Analyze the current state situation (people, processes and technology) and provide a clear starting point for change. The current state Baseline provides an excellent foundation for the other smart interventions.

Why is this important?

To navigate significant organizational change, it is necessary to know where you are heading (the vision) and also to clearly understand the starting point (the Baseline). This enables the delta for change to be clearly defined (from A to B), change actions to be archored, and progress to be measured. The Baseline also provides a common understanding for stakeholders and indicates the current maturity of digital adoption in the organization.

Some questions to be addressed

What are the starting points and current maturity (relating to people, processes, technology)?

What digital technologies are currently in use and what benefits are being achieved?

How is organizational data being exploited to generate insights and/or digital products?

To what extent is the customer experience and engagement digitally enabled?

What business processes are automated?

Are employees actively adopting digital solutions?

How does our digital maturity compare to our competitors?

What do our leaders and employees think?

Approach

The definition of a current state Baseline requires:

  • Access to a wide range of organizational stakeholders via interviews, questionnaires and workshops.

  • Access to information sources that may contribute to forming a complete overview of the current state of the organization and digital practices.

  • Good insight of the market in which the business operates, the opportunities for digitalization, and the leading digital practices of direct competitors and other relevant leading companies.

The intervention is executed in two phases:
